Alaska by Sea

Most Popular Cruise Itineraries

Cruise lines visit Alaska between May and September.

Inside Passage cruises are characterized by sailings traveling round trip from from Seattle, Vancouver, or San Francisco which travel into Alaska’s Inside Passage and include port stops in Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, or Skagway. Glaciers in the mighty Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, and Tracy Arm are also found in the area. Inside passage cruises are typically seven days long, but can be 10 or 14 days. All of the cruise lines above offer 7-day cruises; Princess® also offers 10-day sailings.

Gulf of Alaska cruises are seven days, traveling southbound from Anchorage (Whittier or Seward) to Vancouver, or northbound in the opposite direction. They include most of the port stops along the Inside Passage, plus additional Glacier displays in the Gulf of Alaska’s College Fjord. This itinerary is the gateway to the Alaska's interior heartland and makes Cruise-tours possible. Celebrity, Holland America, Princess® and Royal Caribbean offer this itinerary.

Combine Inside Passage and Gulf of Alaska: Holland America offers a 14-day Connoisseur’s cruise round trip from Seattle that encompasses both the Inside Passage and Gulf of Alaska.

PASSPORT ALERT:
Because all cruises visit a  foreign Canadian port,
US Citizens must carry a valid US Passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date.
