AAA and Helena Area Habitat for Humanity
are Changing Lives One Home at a Time

Public Invited to May 10 Groundbreaking Event at 12 p.m.

Helena, Mont. 5/8/09 - AAA and Helena Area Habitat for Humanity (HAHFH) are combining forces again for a Prickly Pear Condominium groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m. This is the second Prickly Pear Condominium AAA will help build, located at 2190 Billings Avenue.

Last year, AAA was given the opportunity to partner with Habitat for Humanity’s affordable housing program in Helena. AAA provided a low interest loan in the amount of $200,000 to build the two shared-walled condominium residences.

“Habitat for Humanity has shown that building homes does more than put a roof over someone’s head,” said Jim Twardos, President/CEO of AAA MountainWest. “Clean, decent housing provides stability, improves health, and increases education and job prospects. These are improvements that cannot be measured in dollars and cents.”

AAA and HAHFH are honored to break ground with their second partner family William and Diane Massey. AAA employees will participate in HAHFH’s Team Building Program, which allows employees to volunteer during paid work time. The program also provides an environment to build office relationships and boost morale.

“AAA cares about being a good neighbor and serving the community where we live and work,” said Twardos.

Since October of 1992, HAHFH has built 28 homes in partnership among income-challenged families in the Helena area.  Sponsorship by various organizations such as AAA, and individual volunteers make the construction of Habitat homes possible, creating goodwill and public awareness for both HAHFH and those who sponsor their endeavors.

AAA MountainWest Club is dedicated to providing over 160,000 members in Alaska, Montana and Wyoming with travel, insurance, financial and auto-related services.  A fully taxpaying, not-for-profit corporation, AAA MountainWest, Inc. works for the improvement of motoring and traveling conditions and is a leader for travel, civic and safety issues.
